OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Here are some examples of activities we are involved in within our community to make a difference for Christ:

Habersham Christian Learning Center situated off campus near Habersham Central is a non-denomination community service organization. About 200 students each year learn skills in dating, interacting with others, and building relationships. Life and work planning is also taught.

HUB of Habersham:  This local faith organization serves as a catalyst for new and evolving faith based ministries in Habersham County seeking to be used by God to transform individuals and communities.  Most recently, they are involved in Teach 1 to Lead 1 Mentoring program at the Habersham County Success Academy. Contact:  Blake Foster blakefosterhub@gmail.com.

Operation Christmas Child Relay Center – First Baptist serves as the Relay Center for our area.

Prevent Child Abuse Habersham

The Prevent Child Abuse Habersham mission is to Prevent Child Abuse in all its forms before it occurs. The different forms of child abuse are Neglect, Sexual, Emotional and Physical. Our mission is that the citizens of Habersham County will look to us as the leading community partner in child abuse prevention and as a change agent for the implication of child abuse protection policies with a commitment to helping families realize their full potential to raise healthy children free of abuse and neglect. PCAH offers educational programs to the community to combat abuse:

  • Darkness to Light’s Steward of Children – A training program offered that helps recognize child sexual abuse
  • First StepsProvided to all families of newborns after the birth of their baby at Habersham Medical Center
  • Parents as Teachers – Utilizes curriculum in the provision of regular home visits and group meetings for parent of children prenatal to five years
  • Hope and Healing Habersham – Peer support group for survivors of child sexual abuse.

Sharing and Caring – Many of our church members work at the thrift store close by the church which helps provide basic necessities for those in need. Contact person: Sue Blair sueblair@windstream.net

The Lord’s Help Soup Kitchen – Lunch is served to those in need on various days of the week, and many of our church members volunteer here. Link to Update from Shirley

Volunteers for Literacy/ESL classes – Classes are held here Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm for those desiring to learn English.
