Mentoring Our Students Artistically In Christ

This is exactly what the MOSAIC Arts at First Baptist Church, Cornelia, strives to do.

MOSAIC Arts Camp, the brainchild of David Turner, our once Interim Pastor and a wonderful artist, began in 2008.  An Artist himself, Pastor Turner recognized his God given gift and how in developing and using it, continuously grew his own faith, and glorified God in doing. Thus the whole idea of ‘art integrated faith development’ began.  It has become a cornerstone of Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church, Cornelia.

It is our belief that all God’s children are a unique creation.  We are all God’s children,  uniquely and divinely created in His image – created to use what God has given us to build, to craft, to make, and to share with others the wanders of the universe.  Through the talents of area Artists, children ages 6 – 12 are introduced to a myriad of disciplines – Painting, Drawing, Dancing, Singing, Piano, Guitar, Drama, Creative Writing, Pottery, Sculpture, Quilting, Cake Decorating, Photography and More. The week long camp involves several hundred children, as well as about  a hundred volunteers (adults and teenagers) and Artists from throughout the Community.  Our goal is for the campers to leave the week long experience having discovered they have God-given talents, which can be honed and used for His glory while having fun. MOSAIC Arts Camp

In the Fall of 2013, realizing the relevance of artistic creation in the life and Christian growth of a child, we set about to build on the success of MOSAIC Arts Summer Camp. Children are always eager to express their desires, hopes, heart and emotions as a means of communication and thus are able to learn in a more succinct way.

M&M’s (MOSAIC and Missions)

Through the addition of various art disciplines (music, drama, dance, art, God Rods) to the Wednesday night Children’s program, our M&M’s have blossomed and inspired the entire church to a new way of worshiping God. This ‘art integrated Faith development idea’ has even spread to our Adult study and worship time onIMG_0247 Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.
